In term one and two we were a year1/2 class of 15 students.  In term three we have now welcomed 12 new students from Room 6 and said good-bye to 5 students who moved to Room 3.

Our concept for this year is diversity.  So for the first few weeks we have been exploring the diverse people in our room.  Our maths focus was statistics.  Here we investigated what our favourite colour was, favourite fruit and toy.  We were able to sort the information into similar groups and then we discovered that if we arranged them on a line we could compare the groups better.

Guess what the most popular favourite fruit is in Room1?

STRAWBERRIES

and our the most popular favourite colour is

PINK

Here is a display of us flying our personal information kites.

In term three we had to get to know each other all over again.  It was like starting a new year in a new class.  Not only did we revamp our class treaty we also shared personality bags.  Each student was asked to bring in 3-4 things from home that were special to them and explain why.  Most students used family photos, things they had made, a favourite toy or some clothing.

Emerson with a family photo, her favourite book and a toy.
Matthew with his lego creation, swimming certificate, a photo of him on the farm and his torch.

Hamish with his favourite book, a bee creation and his soccer trophy
Sarah with her toy, a ring and bracelet, her ballet shoes and a picture she made of Rapunzel
