Principal

It is a privilege being the Principal of a school, with several unique characteristics, located on the eastern rural fringe of Hamilton City. I have been at Newstead for ten years and I have the responsibility of managing a school that has experienced steady roll growth and received very successful ERO Reports. This is an opportunity for me to work with motivated and talented staff. I believe in providing a variety of leadership situations and initiatives to enhance and develop this potential. We respect the close and evolving relationship with the Faculty of Education at the University of Waikato. Student Teachers experience a variety of practical situations with us. This association adds to the vitality and educational dimension of our school. I enthusiastically encourage a familty atmosphere that enables the children to enjoy positive and safe learning situations. We all know each other well, parent support and understanding being a strength of the community. Newstead provides an environment in which children feel good about themselves and strive to make the most of learning.
