Y1 teacher
I began teaching at Newstead in 2006 as a second year teacher and returned after two years maternity leave.
I like to create an environment in which students work co-operatively and independently. I strive to make learning fun and find it rewarding when students transfer the knowledge they have to other contexts. I enjoy teaching at Newstead because of the strong parental support.
Y3 teacher
I have a class of 24 - year 3 children of mixed ability. I foster a positive, caring learning environment with firm but fair routines and expectations. Newstead School has virtues which are linked into all learning and behaviour and is an intergral part of the classroom. My programme has a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Y2/3 teacher
I enjoy all aspects of my job as a Newstead teacher and strive to deliver a stimulating classroom programme which encourages independant learning in a secure and supportive environment. I believe in having high expectations of my children,using a variety teaching approaches and really encouraging postive behaviour.
Y5 and 6 teacher
I have been teaching at Newstead for the last 4 years. I have two children who also attend Newstead school. One of the many reasons why I love teaching at Newstead is the community. Parents and staff are all dedicated to giving their children the best education possible.
I enjoy walking, scrapbooking and have recently learned how to wakeboard. I love the students that I teach and want the best for them.
Y4 and 5 teacher

I teach a year 4/5 class where students are ecouraged to be positive, enthusiastic, thinking learners and to demonstrate and further develop independence.
We have a ‘thinking classroom’ so we have fun together and collaboratively plan our learning activities.
I endeavour to integrate subject areas where possible though especially enjoy teaching through visual art.
I encourage training teachers to be innovative, resourceful and professional in all areas of teaching. We all love to learn new information in new ways.
I have Leadership responsibilities for Art, Assessment,Enviroschools and ICT.
I share responsibility as Deputy Principal during the year.
I am the NZEI worksite representative and staff representative on the school BOT. I am the ORS teacher and as such are released from my class on Friday to fulfil this role. I meet with specialist educators during this time.

I am an experienced classroom teacher with strengths in Literacy, Numeracy, Music, Science and Art.
I believe in a positive, happy classroom environment, which offers children rich and worthwhile learning experiences.
I have a strong emphasis on phonics in my programme and find this helps immensely in the children's reading and writing development.
I encourage creativity and endeavour to provide a vibrant and inviting classroom.
I am a Senior Teacher with responsibility for Faculty of Education programme in the school.
I have shared responsibility in deputising for the Principal.
Learning Needs
B' Ed
I have worked at Newsted School as the Learning Needs teacher for the past seven years. My role includes selecting children for small group work in both literacy and numeracy. As a school we try to maintain a balance between support and extension.
I am passionate about the importance of children having a strong literacy and numeracy foundation to enable them better access to other curriculum subjects.
Outside of school I am kept busy with teenagers at home. I am also an avid netball fan.

I am the realease teacher working for Lee in Room 5 on Friday.
I have extensive experience in teaching at all levels and have a particular strength in teaching through drama.
